My granddaughter is in Kindergarten and I volunteer on Tuesday mornings during center time. On of the centers is computer and right now they are using Starfall there.
In May of 2009, we released our Starfall Kindergarten Reading and Language Arts Curriculum. The lesson plans motivate kindergarten children by creating an atmosphere of fun and enthusiasm, providing opportunities for child-directed instruction, and facilitating the needs of English language learners and struggling readers learning alongside their peers.”
Starfall uses kids voices in the program and really handles the basics of ABCs and reading very well. There’s singing and lots of repetition and it’s easy enough that kids can handle the computer manipulation themselves while you’re cooking dinner.
