Quick as a Wink

January 3, 2010

Two quick pieces of news on my two granddaughters.

Seems Mikayla lost her second tooth last week when she was with dad.  Not sure how she’ll eat an apple right now, but the options for straw usage are awesome!

Looks like my second granddaughter, Leilah Nicole, is eminent.  Kelly was starting to dilate and is having some sporatic contractions.  This is a picture of them on the New Year’s Eve.  My sister said, when she saw this picture, “All belly, no Kelly”.

Stay tuned for actual pics of Miss Leilah without the surrounding belly!

Congratulations to Mikayla! All kinds of good things can fit through a straw — especially if you have a juicer. How much does the Tooth Fairy pay for teeth nowadays?

And my goodness, Kelly looks ready to pop. I hope she’s not as uncomfortable as I imagine she must be. Good things are coming your way. Keep us posted on the arrival of Leilah Nicole (love that name!).

She IS ready to pop and she’s pretty uncomfortable at this point. Lots of pressure on the underside of the belly…go figure! I’ll just come right out and say it…she’s huge! She’d agree. She’s more than ready but also knows that Leilah will come in her own sweet time.

As for the tooth fairy, beats me! I’ve been out of that loop for too long now. Kayla said it was a big silver coin but not a quarter so I’m not sure if someone is digging out 50 cent pieces or those coin dollars or what. Kind of hard to tell when it’s being explained by a 5-year-old!

My great grandmother was the local midwife in the area where she lived in central Pennsylvania. Pregnant moms would ask her when their babies would be born, could they do anything to prompt labor. Her reply? “When the apple’s ripe, it’ll fall.”

    Hang in there, Kelly!

That’s about what my mom says, Wendy….”she’ll come when she’s ready.”

Mark, you are right! I hadn’t noticed the trend. Hope I’m not next in line!
