My granddaughter Mikayla’s dad is getting married this weekend. And as neat as that is for Thomas and Ashley (the intended couple), it’s even neater for Mikayla.
Because she gets to be a princess again.
When my daughter Kelly (Mikayla’s mom) and my son-in-law Andy got married in May, it was real nice that they could attend their own wedding, but, as far as Mikayla was concerned it was All About The “Wear”!
Here’s a post from the wedding blog on March 19th…
Shoes and Disney StampsKayla got her shoes yesterday. And she’s on the hunt for her tiara…mom’s looking for little ones and Kayla’s looking for Miss America-sized ones. ” )
We saw a pair of gloves with a diamond sewn on the forth finger “like mommy’s” so we’ll probably have to add that to the list of her many accessories. The real battle was mommy saying she can’t have a veil too. ”Only mommy is getting married so only mommy gets a veil”. The battle is still being waged, so we’ll see on May 9th how that one comes out!
A Behind the scenes story for you…
Kayla and I went to the post office yesterday morning to buy postage for mommy’s wedding invitations. I asked her if she’d ever bought stamps before and she said, “No”, so I gave her my credit card and ID (it starts early with grandchildren, folks!) and told her she could buy them.
So we get to the post office and we’re waiting in line and they have this display of all the available stamps in cases along the line where you wait. Great! Brilliant me tells Kayla, “okay, pick out the stamps you think we should buy for mommy’s invitations.” I’m such a great grandma…giving her choices and being flexible!
Oh my God! They’ve got princess stamps!
“Um, honey, I don’t think mommy and Andy want princess stamps on their wedding invitations. Look! Here’s some pretty heart ones that would be perfect!”
“No, gramma…Disney stamps.”
“Well, Kayla, let’s just buy the heart one and we can get the Disney stamps later. So when we get up to the window, you say, ‘May I please have 100 green heart stamps?’, right?”
“No. Disney stamps.”
Oh, man, I am SO in trouble here.
So sure enough, she goes up and looks up at the lady who’s leaning over the counter to take her “order” and she says “May I please have 100 disney stamps?”
Duh.
So we get 100 heart stamps and a sheet of Disney stamps.
Disney stamps for the mortgage company. Cool! :
So, you see, the bride and groom are superfluous at a wedding.
Because as long as there’s a princess, there’s reason for a celebration…and two princesses is even better!

What beautiful princesses you have! But that’s not too surprising, considering their beautiful queen mama/gramma!
